“In the vast studio of the painter Tod Ramos, Florian a beautiful French saddle horse of 17 years to pose. With his brown coat and black mane, the horse is sketched on the white pages of students passionate about painting.”

“Sir William Nicholson - a fine artist - told me often that it was easy to put on the paint if you know where to put it.”
Sir Alfred Munnings PRA (1878-1959)

“Remember that a picture - before being a horse, a nude, or some sort of anecdote - is essentially a flat surface covered with colours assembled in a certain order.”
Maurice Denis (1870-1943)

We are not running a Masterclass in 2019

Tour de Horse - a masterclass with Tod Ramos, the foremost painter of the horse.

HorseThis masterclass includes the fundamental anatomy of the horse and the principles of its’ movement and form using a variety of techniques and mediums. This will enable those attending to understand the conformation and the varying forms of the different breeds, using a unique technique for drawing and painting the horse in movement. We will be studying the indiginous Carmargue, the Andalucian, the Portugese, the Arab, the throughbred and other breeds of equus. We will be working directly from our subjects both in the studio and en plein air. This course provides a new departure for an artist to study another subject - perhaps a metaphor for working from life in movement. For those already studying the horse it is an opportunity to hone their skills. In the past we have found both professionals and beginners alike have benefitted greatly from this fascinating subject.
